It is written in plain language and reflects the actual state of the business as of April 30, 2026. Who Owns This Site
ThatDeveloperGuy.com is owned and operated by Joseph W. Anady, a sole proprietor doing business as ThatDeveloperGuy. The business is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) registered on SAM.gov and is based in Cassville, Missouri, United States. There is no parent company, no holding entity, no investor group, and no silent partner. Joseph writes the code, writes the articles, signs the contracts, and answers the phone.
Editorial Independence and the Commercial Relationship You Should Know About
ThatDeveloperGuy sells the same services it writes about. Joseph builds custom websites and provides SEO, AEO, AIO, and GEO work for paying clients across the United States. That means almost every article on this site touches a topic the business is also paid to perform for clients. You should read it with that in mind.
What Joseph can promise: no third party pays to be mentioned, recommended, ranked, or criticized in any article on this site. Every tool, vendor, platform, and technique discussed is chosen because Joseph uses it, has tested it, or believes it is the clearest example for the point being made. Articles are not edited or approved by clients before publication, and clients do not see drafts. When a paid client engagement informs an article, that fact is disclosed inside the article itself.
What Joseph will not pretend: a sole proprietor who sells SEO services is not a neutral observer of the SEO industry. He has commercial reasons to want readers to value the kind of work he sells. The defense against that is transparency, not denial — which is what this page is for.
Affiliate Links and Referral Compensation
This site currently runs no affiliate links and earns no referral commission from any third party. No link on ThatDeveloperGuy.com pays the operator a commission when you click it or sign up for a product on the other end. There are no affiliate relationships with Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz, Wix, Squarespace, OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, Google, Bing, any hosting company, any CRM, any agency tool, or any other vendor named anywhere on the site. If that ever changes, this paragraph will be rewritten to name every program the site participates in, and individual articles containing affiliate links will carry a clear in-content disclosure consistent with the FTC Endorsement Guides at 16 CFR Part 255.

No vendor, agency, platform, or PR firm has ever paid, traded, or otherwise compensated this site to publish, host, link to, or favorably mention anything. There are no paid guest posts, no sponsored newsletters, no “partner content,” and no link insertions for hire. Pitches asking to buy a placement, a do-follow link, or a “brand mention” are declined, and the operator does not respond to outreach offering payment for editorial placement. If a sponsored arrangement is ever accepted in the future, the article will be labeled “Sponsored” at the top, the sponsor will be named, the nature of the compensation will be described, and the labeling will appear before any reader scrolls into the content.

They appear because they are the tools Joseph actually uses in client work, the tools he has personally evaluated, or the most accurate example of a category being discussed. The companies behind those tools have no editorial relationship with this site and in most cases are unaware that their products are mentioned.
Client Work and Case Studies
ThatDeveloperGuy serves real paying clients, and a portion of the writing on this site draws lessons from that work. Two rules govern how client work appears in articles. First, no client is named in an article without the client’s prior written permission, and named case studies link to the client’s live site so the reader can verify the work for themselves. Second, when a client has not granted permission to be named, the example is anonymized: identifying details such as the company name, vertical specifics, geography, and dollar figures are removed or generalized to a degree that prevents identification. Internal numbers, ranking data, traffic data, and proprietary business information from anonymized engagements are not published. The portfolio page on this site lists only sites the client has agreed to display publicly.
Use of AI Tools
Joseph uses large language models — primarily Claude and ChatGPT — as drafting, research, and editing aids in some of the writing on this site, alongside hand-written drafts and original research. Every published article is reviewed, fact-checked, edited, and accepted by Joseph personally before it goes live; nothing on this site is published unread or unedited from a model. AI-generated images, when used, are labeled as such. Financial and Investment Interests
Joseph holds no equity, no stock, no options, no convertible notes, no advisory shares, and no founder or partner stake in any of the SaaS tools, hosting companies, ad platforms, AI labs, or agencies named on this site. He receives no consulting fees from those companies and sits on none of their advisory boards. The only commercial interest he has in the topics covered on this site is the one already disclosed above: he sells web development and SEO services to clients. Joseph also founded and runs the MEGAMIND research project, an independent distributed-intelligence research effort. MEGAMIND is not a commercial product, has no investors, and does not sell anything; references to it on this site are research-context references, not promotion of a product. If a future financial interest is acquired in any company discussed on this site, this section will be updated and articles concerning that company will carry an in-line disclosure.
