Hi, I'm Joseph. This is a one-person studio.
100% disabled veteran. BA Computer Engineering from Colorado State, MA in Cybersecurity. SDVOSB certified through the SBA. Founded ThatDeveloperGuy in 2017 from Cassville, Missouri. Over 130 production sites shipped since 2020. Every line of code on every client site, hand written.
Why I built this
Studios outsource. I don't.
After watching small businesses get burned by agencies running playbooks on Wix, hidden retainers, and outsourced offshore code, I started ThatDeveloperGuy on a simple premise: one engineer, fully accountable, hand coded, no subcontractors, fixed quotes.
When a client calls the number on the contract, I pick up. When a search engine ranks one of my sites, it's because the schema, the speed, and the content actually earned it. No automation farm, no AI slop, no Squarespace template renamed and resold.
Every site is owned infrastructure on a Debian server I run myself. Every client owns their domain, their DNS, their content, their schema graph. If you leave tomorrow, you take everything with you.

A recent Houston rebuild
Solution Gear Co. is a family owned industrial gearbox repair shop serving Houston. The brand had spread across two older sites, sgearbox.com and a legacy Hanson Gear Works site, which split link equity and blurred which page was canonical. I consolidated both into one fast hand coded site on sgearbox.com, wrote Schema.org structured data for the shop and its services, stood up a dedicated client owned GA4 property, and hardened the lead capture form, all served from owned nginx infrastructure.
